Author & Founder, Black Girls Don’t Get Love

Eden Strachan is a national award-winning journalist and filmmaker whose work has been published by CNN and NPR alike. Strachan has been practicing her craft for over ten years, and was awarded a full-tuition media scholarship to Ithaca College in recognition of her use of media for social change. While completing her Bachelor’s Degree, Strachan also trained at many of the major media companies including CBS Television Studios, VICE, and the Emmys. Strachan was also awarded a full-tuition, National Black MBA Association Scholarship to the Martin J. Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University.

In addition to her media work, Strachan is the Author and Founder of Black Girls Don’t Get Love, a book and multimedia coming of age brand for girls of color. Strachan was recently offered a book deal to re-release the originally self-published book nationally. Strachan is also working to develop the Black Girls Don't Get Love book into a television series.

Building upon the principles in her book, Strachan founded, and serves as the Executive Director of Black Girls WILL Get Love, Inc., the non-profit arm of Black Girls Don't Get Love.

Black Girls WILL Get Love, Inc. facilitates all of the brand’s philanthropic initiatives such as the acclaimed Black Girls Don't Get Love Prom, Slumber Party, Outdoor Exploration, and the Black Girls Don't Get Love Film Training Program. Black Girls WILL Get Love, Inc. has served over 150 girls, secured over $70K in brand sponsorships, and been recognized by the CNY Business Journal with a Rising Star award for its impact in the Central New York area.

In October 2022, Strachan delivered a TEDx entitled, “Who Gets to be the Girl Next Door?” Strachan’s talk explored the lack of Black female representation in the coming of age genre and how it represents the erasure of Black girlhood in society. Strachan also presented on Black Girls Don’t Get Love at the New York State Reading Association Conference in November 2022. The presentation was entitled: “The Burden of Representation: Exploring the BIPOC Adolescent Grade School Experience.”

In 2023, Strachan was also recognized by the CNY Business Journal with a 40 Under Forty award.
