Our Guest, Eden Strachan (Straw-n), is Executive Director of Black Girls Will Get Love, Inc. and Founder of Black Girls Don’t Get Love, LLC. She is also an award-winning journalist and filmmaker and author of the book Black Girls Don’t Get Love.
Eden’s work focuses on advancing girls’, girls of color, and Black girls in particular, learning and self-image through the use media. Her work centers the genre of the coming of age story.
Her organization offers a film training program, a slumber party, and other activities open to the public as well as the “Black Girls Don’t Get Love” screen writing workshops is available to school districts.
Eden shares her story of how media can be a tool for social change and the impact on filmmaking in the lives of girls.

Eden Strachan is a national award-winning journalist and filmmaker whose work has been published by CNN and NPR alike. Strachan has been practicing her craft for over ten years, and was awarded a full-tuition media scholarship to Ithaca College in recognition of her use of media for social change. While completing her Bachelor’s Degree, Strachan also trained at many of the major media companies including CBS Television Studios, VICE, and the Emmys. Strachan was also awarded a full-tuition, National Black MBA Association Scholarship to the Martin J. Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University.
In addition to her media work, Strachan is the Author and Founder of Black Girls Don’t Get Love, a book and multimedia coming of age brand for girls of color. Strachan was recently offered a book deal to re-release the originally self-published book nationally. Strachan is also working to develop the Black Girls Don't Get Love book into a television series.
Building upon the principles in her book, Strachan founded, and serves as the Executive Director of Black Girls WILL Get Love, Inc., the non-profit arm of Black Girls Don't Get Love.
